Mongol Warrior, Yuan Dynasty 元朝蒙古勇士

14th century Mongol warrior (Yuan dynasty) in heavy lamellar armor that was widely worn in the Song and Yuan dynasty. For protection, he carries a Central Asian Kalkan shield constructed by having thin plant rods spirally plaited around a wooden disc, then stitched securely with fabric threads. For combat, he carries a lance slung on his back. Usually, he would also be equipped with a bow and saber. His quiver is slung to his right. With the firm possession of the ancestral Mongol heartlands as well as the bounties of China, Kublai Khan made himself the Great Khan over the other Mongol rivals.
